Welcome to Fermented Adventures, a website dealing with beer, wine and, occasionally, spirits. I thought about it for a while and decided that even though the internet is crowded with blogs and other information feeds, I could write about my experiences with wine and beer and cocktails and hopefully share something with people and, perhaps, start a conversation about drinks.
To some this may seem indulgent, both in sharing my thoughts and in the topic. But for me, wine and beer, when done right, are truly wondrous creations. Part science, part alchemy, part art, they continually astound me with their sheer variety and complexity. I started learning about wine years ago, and I’ve barely scratched the surface of what there is to know and appreciate about them. I’ve been drinking beer for most of my adult life, but only recently have I begun to explore and discover the variations that are possible and the different styles of beer and how they can be expressed.
So what do I expect to do here? First, I expect to talk about the wines and beers (and occasionally cocktails) that I try. I also want to talk a bit about the bars and pubs in the New York area as well as tasting events and breweries. And I’m hoping that at some point I can bring in others to help contribute, whether it be about bars in other parts of the world or drinks that I haven’t covered.
I don’t claim to be an expert, far from it. In fact one of the things I love about beer and wine is that there’s so much to learn and it’s always educational. I’m taking a journey and trying to fully experience every step of the way. I hope you’ll be interested enough to follow along, and perhaps even contribute.
